Ok, FF8 isn't running from CD (other games do).I read in the manual that there's a ppf patch needed to play it on epsxe 1.5.1 (that's the Version i. No one like restrictions these days. DescriptionBeetle psx-libretro (or core in retroarch) won't tolerate modification in kernel.bin, enemy data files which are part of the inside IMG file, while other emulators like ReARMed Core, or ePSXe or pSX can run it without problems. In mednafen it throws uncorrectable error in sector 842 but it still runs... |
commented Nov 16, 2018
Does it report anything in the console/log when you try to load it? |
commented Nov 16, 2018
Nope it doesn't throw anything, just an endless black screen that i can go back to the retroarch as if it is emulated correctly. Anyway I fixed by rewriting the ppf to avoid corrupting 'headers' and 'footers' of each modified sector, tested with a custom asm hack fro drawing magic and replacing the entire kernel.bin (a 38kB chunk), mednafen wont show sector error so Bettle core now run it like it should. Ty for replying hizzle. To put it simple check that your iso/bin/img/pbp doesn't have sectors errors, if no errors then bettle-psx hw and non hw work as they should |

Ever played Final Fantasy VII, leveled up your character, collected all the best equipment and materia just to realize that not even the two super bosses of the game could give you a decent challenge, and most other enemies in the game die from a single hit with the sword? Ever wished that monsters did at least enough damage to let you use your final limit break once in a while? Got disappointed when the final boss died after the first few turns? Ever wished Final Fantasy VII was a bit more… epic?
In this version of Final Fantasy VII you will need every inch of fury in the limit bar, you will need the most powerful protective spells the game has to offer and you will need to call forth your most devastating summons - not because they look cool, but just to stay alive.
I’ve tried to stay as close to the original game as possible, only increasing difficulty and balancing out a few things. Dialogue is completely untouched.
Gemini’s spirit bug fix and ARMs FF7 Damage Break (9999 Damage Cap Remover) has also been included.
Main features
- HP and stats of player characters have been reduced by 50% and you can no longer max out stats with source items.
- MP numbers are scaled down by 50% to increase maximum MP/spell cost.
- Cloud now requires slightly more XP to level up to reduce the level gap between him and other party members on higher levels.
- Stealing items is generally easier and more rewarding in the first part of the game.
- Some weapons, armours, monsters, bosses, spells and materia have been rebalanced.
- Ultimate weapons now have slot growth but fewer slots and lower magic attack. Also, the power up effect have been changed on Barrets, Tifas and Vincents ultimate weapons (they now depend on hp/level/mp).
- HP and MP of monsters are increased by 60%.
- Monsters in the crater can no longer be manipulated, (Dragon Force can now be obtained from Blue Dragon).
- Weapon bosses are now harder to beat.
- The best single hit summons are now slightly more powerful while Knights of the Round are a less powerfull.
- Better materia require more ap to level up.
- Ribbons protect against _all_ status effects which means you can’t use haste or barriers together with a ribbon.
- No more item duplication or overflow damage.
